What is the difference between a Tilt Door / Roller Door / Panel Door / Cedar Door ?
A Roller Door rolls up vertically in the opening around a circular drum wheel. When open the majority of the roll usually sits above the door opening.

A Tilt door is a single section that pivots in the garage opening and lifts in one piece to the open position, supported by J-Type or T-Type Hardware.

A 'Sectional Overhead door' or 'Panel door' is made up of horizontal panels, which have wheels that slide up along tracks section by section to lay parallel with the garage roof when open.

Please click on the type of door above to go to the relevant page for more information.

How often should I have my door and operator serviced?
To keep garage doors, gates and their respective remote control operators functioning in optimal condition, we strongly recommend that they are serviced annually by a trained service technician.   High usage doors, gates or bar grilles on commercial or accommodation complexes, will benefit from being serviced quarterly. Speak to our friendly staff or email us now regarding an individual service, or to organise a continuous maintenance agreement.

What is the warranty on Garage Doors and Automatic Operators?
Manufacturer's warranties vary between products, so you should check the warranty details for your chosen product/s at the time of placing your order. Along with the Manufacturer's warranty, East Coast Garage Doors & Gates also gives a ONE YEAR Installation Warranty on all new product installations.

How should I care for my remote control handset?
Handsets for garage doors can be fragile as they are electronic devices and should be handled with some degree of care. Shield them whenever possible from direct sunlight and heat. Also avoid rough handling and moisture.

What are some tips for general care of my Garage Door?
Different environmental conditions will effect doors and their hardware to varying degrees, but like many things around your home, a little care and attention can be of great benefit!

Overhead Sectional Doors
Generally an Overhead Sectional Door will run more smoothly and operating noise can be minimised by using a lubricant spray on the wheels and hinges every three months.

Roller Doors
For Roller Doors it is advisable to clean the guides regularly. Keeping them free of grease, dirt and where possible corrosion. A silicon based spray on the tracks assists smooth running, (never use grease or an oil based spray). Ask us about the new imported spray which has been developed especially for the industry and which we will soon have available.
